the eggs

02   /   2018

Based on life and death, it is inevitable in human life. When you try to look at my models, you may see the inner world from a tiny hole, it takes your full attention. What I try to say is that we need to put more effort and time to deal with the things in our daily life.

TEXT, I take inspiration from what I see on the streets and other daily surroundings. I focus on people's’ habits during my study here. The elements I used is from nature, people, life and emotions. We often discuss “the chicken-and-the-egg conundrum! ” This saying represents a conflict. Therefore, I wanted to use the eggs that we eat every day as my main material.

In addition, I am using simple shapes with foam. The narrow part represents the difficulties in life, the chubby and round part that contains a lot of space shows possibilities and opportunities.  As I mentioned before, eggs are the most important things, so I want to remake the egg. I was thinking I should add a surprise or unexpected element inside. This idea comes from my personal discovery about the egg membrane. It has a different kind of smoothness that is nice to touch. This unexpected feeling attracted me. I associate the egg membrane with the feeling of breathing. A rubber tube is a tool used in medical practices. It is not just an object but has connotations to sickness or death. If we didn’t know that this is used in medicine, then we won’t feel its negativity.

The famous director, Kurosawa Akira said that “The simplest and most ordinary life is the most horrible.” Real-time awareness allows people to have the ability to get rid of a desperate situation. Death is just a step in life. It’s not something we are happy about it, but we don’t need to be afraid of talking about it or not accept it. Adversity seems to be good, and people find truth in unfortunate situations. Death is a matter of fact since the day we were born.
